The Tennessee Titans released three veterans on Wednesday to get some salary-cap relief. And we think one guy is a perfect player for the Pittsburgh Steelers to sign. No, it’s not offensive tackle Taylor Lewan. We’ve already talked about concerns with Lewan’s best football being behind him and wanting too much money.

We are talking about wide receiver Robert Woods. The Steelers offense is young, talented and explosive. But aside from guard James Daniels, there is no veteran presence on that side of the football, especially among the skill players. Woods is 30 years old and has 10 years of NFL experience.

Woods’ production might not be elite but if the Steelers could being him in on a reasonable contract he would provide an excellent example for guys like George Pickens, Diontae Johnson and Calvin Austin III. Someone to help these raw young talents with some of the more subtle parts of being an NFL wide receiver. Pickens catches everything but struggles to get open while Johnson is open more than any receiver in the NFL but is inconsistent with his hands.

Let us know if you would like to see the Steelers try to sign Woods to add a veteran presence to the Steelers skill players.
