After a slow start, it’s clear to any onlooker that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is starting to heat up.

Burrow had to fight through the tough summer with the ruptured appendix only to return to face NFL defenses that had spent all offseason finding ways to shut down his offense.

The start was rough, but Burrow is through and on fire now. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says his franchise quarterback has made leaps in the way he can quickly adjust.

“That’s what he’s learned,” Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “He’s learned how to quickly adjust and he just keeps the sticks moving forward at all times. That’s what gives me confidence, really, calling any pass we’ve got. He just finds a way to find a completion. When you lead the league in completion percentage, I’ve got a lot of confidence to call everything on the menu and know he’s going to find the right answer.”

Taylor also noted the following: “I think last year at this time he played fast, but this year he plays even faster and that’s just understanding, maybe even skipping, through a progression. Because he sees the coverage and he knows, ‘I can give him this ball and I can get it out of my hands quickly,’ and we can get an efficient gain.”

Oh and that pesky Tampa 2 coverage Burrow and Co. struggled with so much? Taylor says that over the last seven games, Burrow is 34 of 36 while averaging 11 yards per completion against the coverage.

While expected, it’s always nice to hear that Burrow has adjusted and can and will continue to do so regardless of coverage, which sets him far apart from most passers in the pros.
