The WWE is having the SummerSlam at the Browns’ stadium, but if the Bengals had the choice, it would have been in Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Bengals have had some major events that likely helped with their revenue, with a major example being the Taylor Swift concert.
With the cost of contracts going up and the Bengals having to pay Ja’Marr Chase soon, the Brown family is likely looking for all the revenue they can find. They also want to add value to Paycor Stadium by discussing stadium upgrades in the long term.
Their desire to host more shows with the reports that the Bengals attempted to host WWE’s SummerSlam event over the summer. It was reported by Ben Baby on Twitter that during a recent board of commissioners meeting, it came out that the Bengals had made several attempts to convince the WWE to have the event in Paycor.
Hamilton County Administrator Jeff Alutto said the Bengals made an effort for Paycor Stadium to host WWE SummerSlam, which ended up going to Cleveland instead.
Alutto: “They did reach out several times. They said they didn’t call back.”

There is going to be a debate about what will happen when the Bengals’ lease runs out in 2026. In the meantime, they will be looking for all types of revenue, and hosting events brings revenue to the stadium and also adds value to the stadium for the city
While the Bengals were not able to convince the WWE to have the SummerSlam at Paycor in 2024, if it goes well at the Browns’ stadium, then the Bengals may be able to convince WWE to have a major event at Paycor in 2025.
