There is no question whether Justin Herbert is a good quarterback. However, every time Herbert has faced Bill Belichick and the Patriots, he has struggled.

Herbert is 0-2 against New England. In the two games, he threw four interceptions to just two touchdowns. Furthermore, Herbert completed just 50% of his pass attempts for 432 yards.

The last time Los Angeles faced the Patriots in 2021, former Chargers safety Adrian Phillips picked off the former Oregon product twice in New England’s 27-24 win. And yes, that’s another close game that the Chargers lost.

Both losses against New England with Herbert at the helm were played at SoFi Stadium, meaning this will be his first appearance at Gillette Stadium.

With the Chargers on a three-game losing streak, Herbert’s career struggles with the Patriots is a disheartening fact. Nevertheless, the Patriots are one of the worst teams in the NFL, so it’s highly possible that Herbert can end this losing trend.
