Isaiah Wynn will not go up against his ex-club this week. As was announced by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, the former New England Patriots first-round draft pick has been placed on injured reserve.

Wynn, 27, was drafted 23rd overall by the Patriots in 2018 but missed his rookie season with an Achilles injury. He returned the following season as the team’s starting left tackle, but his availability continued to be inconsistent: he missed time on injured reserve in three of his next four seasons in New England.

Wynn therefore entered free agency earlier this year having appeared in just 44 of 87 possible games as a Patriot. As a consequence of his availability issues and an up-and-down 2022 campaign, the team opted against re-signing him.

He instead took his talents to Miami, where he started all seven games so far at left guard. However, Wynn suffered a quad injury during the team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Patriots and Dolphins will square off at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
