Texans sign long snapper Jon Weeks to 1-year deal

The Houston Texans re-signed their first in-house free agent of the 2024 offseason after the team announced long-snapper Jon Weeks would return for his 15th season on a new deal.

While the terms of the deal were not officially released, KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported Weeks signed a one-year, $1.21 million contract with a $167,500 signing bonus.

Weeks, 37, has been with the Texans since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He’s played in all 227 games as the team’s starting long-snapper with 33 combined tackles and one fumble recovery in his career. Weeks made the Pro Bowl in 2015.

The Texans will have a lot more questions to answer this offseason with their litany of internal free agents. Some – like Weeks – are integral to the continuity of the team, while others outperformed expectations and/or could be too expensive to retain in 2024. Houston is expected to have the third-most salary cap space, though, and could find quality in the draft as well.
